How we met
It was the Spring of 2012. Natalie had just moved from Boca Raton, Florida to Astoria, New York in May. The following month she had lined up an interview up at midtown firm, Outsource Consultants, Inc. After meeting with the Human Resource Manager she was interviewed by one of the firm's partners., Diego Caballero. The Interview went extremely well and Diego hired her on the spot.
Fast forward 2 years. The day had come that Natalie decided she wanted to buy an apartment in New York. After seeing one she was interested in buying, she asked Diego for his opinion and expertise. Diego offered to go view the apartment with Natalie one day during the week after work. Only there was one catch! Diego offered to go with Natalie if she would go out to dinner with him after the apartment viewing. Natalie nervously accepted.
To their mutual surprise, the dinner "date" went extremely well and they hit it off. They talked for hours getting to know each other on a different level, apart from work. The next two years were spent getting to know one another and falling in love.
It was December of 2016. Diego and Natalie were in Florida for the Christmas/New Year vacation. On December 30th, 2016 Diego had planned a dinner at Waterstone in Boca Raton, a restaurant overlooking the intercostal waterway. He chose this restaurant because of it's romantic/scenic beauty and because it was also where Diego met Natalie’s parents for the first time. Natalie believed that they were both going to dinner with her parents. However, her parents were in on the plan and made it seem that they had both had a long day and wouldn’t be able to make it. Natalie called the hostess (who was in on it) to change the reservation from 4 people to 2. The hostess humored her and confirmed a table for two.
When they got to the restaurant, Diego ordered champagne and toasted to what was a very, very cold December evening in Florida. After feigning a trip to the men's room, he consorted with the restaurant manager and put his well orchestrated plan into place.
After returning, he sat down beside her, told her how much he loved her and wanted a future together. He then got down on one knee and asked her to marry her. Natalie accepted with many tears of joy and happiness. After a few minutes of ring gazing and surprised bewilderment, Diego suggested that Natalie call her parents. At the moment that she did, her parents heightened the surprise when they joined Diego and Natalie to celebrate.
